Chúa Giêsu ngước mắt lên và thấy đám rất đông dân chúng đến với Người.
Người hỏi Philipphê:"Ta mua đâu được bánh cho những người này ăn?"
Người hỏi như vậy có ý thử ông, vì chính Người đã biết việc Người sắp làm.
Philipphê thưa: "Hai trăm bạc bánh cũng không đủ để mỗi người được một chút"...
Bấy giờ Chúa Giêsu cầm lấy bánh và khi đã tạ ơn,
Người phân phát cho các kẻ ngồi ăn, và cá cũng phân phát như thế,
ai muốn bao nhiêu tuỳ thích.

Salvation according to Francis

“The Lord does not save us with a letter, with a decree,
but he has saved us” and continues to save us with “his love”,
restoring human beings “dignity and hope”.

At this point the Pope invited everyone to make “an act of faith”, saying:
“Lord, I believe. I believe in your love.
I believe that your love has saved me.
I believe that your love has given me a dignity that I had not.
I believe that your love gives me hope”.
Here thus it becomes “beautiful to believe in love”,
because “it is the truth. It is the truth of our life”.

It happens, however, that at times “we want to save ourselves and we believe we can do it. 'I save myself!'.
We don't say it, but we live it, just so”.
For example when we think: “I save myself with money. I am secure, I have some money, there is no problem... I have dignity: the dignity of the rich”.
But, Pope Francis interjected, all that “is not enough. Think of the Gospel parable, of that man who had the full granary and said: 'I will make another, to have more and more, and then I will sleep peacefully”. And the Lord responds: 'You fool! You will die tonight'.
That kind of salvation is wrong, it is a temporary, apparent”, like those times when we delude ourselves with thoughts of “salvation by vanity, or by pride”, believing ourselves “powerful”, masquerading “our poverty, our sins in vanity, pride: all things that end, while true salvation has to do with the dignity and hope received thanks to the love of God”, he added referring to the pass of the Gospel of John (3:16-21) proclaimed a few minutes before, who sent his only Son to save us.

Nỗ lực cộng tác vào việc tông đồ là điều phải làm:"Ở đây có một bé trai có năm chiếc bánh lúa mạch và hai con cá"
Nhưng không được làm trong sự lo lắng thái quá: "nhưng bấy nhiêu thì thấm vào đâu cho từng ấy người!",
vì Chúa mới là tác nhân chính
và là Đấng mang lại kết quả cho công việc: "Người phân phát cho các kẻ ngồi ăn, và cá cũng phân phát như thế, ai muốn bao nhiêu tuỳ thích."

Vĩnh hằng

Cha yêu mến Con, nên đã ban mọi sự trong tay Con.
Ai tin vào Con thì có sự sống đời đời.

The Infinite Value of Life

Some people live long lives, some die very young.
Is a long life better than a short life? 
What truly counts is not the length of our lives
but their quality.

Jesus was in his early thirties when he was killed.
Thérèse de Lisieux was in her twenties when she died.
Anne Frank was a teenager when she lost her life.
But their short lives continue to bear fruit long after their deaths.

A long life is a blessing when it is well lived and leads to gratitude, wisdom, and sanctity.
But some people can live truly full lives even when their years are few.

As we see so many young people die of cancer and AIDS
let us, do everything possible to show our friends
that, though their lives may be short, they are of infinite value.

Một cuốc sống tròn đầy phong phú không tuỳ thuộc độ dài của năm tháng,
mà do nghệ thuật sống tròn đầy giây phút hiện tại với Chúa, với anh em.
Đấy là sống cuộc sống vĩnh hằng ngay từ bây giờ.

Tái sinh

Thiên Chúa đã yêu thế gian đến nỗi đã ban Con Một Người để tất cả những ai tin ở Con của Người, thì không phải hư mất, nhưng được sống đời đời. (Ga 3,16)

Chúa nói với Nicôđêmô về một điều cực kỳ quan trọng là phải tái sinh trong đời sống mới, trong ánh sáng mới. Đấy là sự sống và ánh sáng thần linh, sống chung với Chúa Ba Ngôi ngay từ bây giờ. Chúa đã chết để thực hiện công trình sự sống và ánh sáng này cho con người.

Thiên thần vào nhà trinh nữ và chào rằng: "Kính chào Bà đầy ơn phước, Thiên Chúa ở cùng Bà, Bà được chúc phúc giữa các người phụ nữ".(Lc 1,28)

Thiên thần truyền tin cho Maria, cũng là loan báo lòng thương xót của Chúa từ bao đời.
Tôma đã thấy lòng thương xót đó nơi cạnh sườn, nơi những dấu đinh của Chúa.

Sau cùng, Người tỏ mình ra cho chính Nhóm Mười Một đang khi các ông dùng bữa. Người khiển trách các ông không tin và cứng lòng, bởi lẽ các ông không chịu tin những kẻ đã được thấy Người sau khi Người trỗi dậy. Người nói với các ông: “Anh em hãy đi khắp tứ phương thiên hạ, loan báo Tin Mừng cho mọi loài thụ tạo.” (Mc 16,14-15)

Bằng một phong cách đơn sơ, khiêm tốn, vui tươi, gần gũi, tha thiết với người nghèo, ra khỏi lớp vỏ cứng để đến với mọi người, ĐTC Phanxicô đã là nguồn hứng khởi cho niềm tin thức dậy. Tất cả phát xuất từ một đời sống cầu nguyện, chiêm niệm sâu xa.

Back in the 1990s, Guillermo Marcó, a priest in the diocese of Buenos Aires, was press officer for Bishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio. In his eight years at the future Pope’s side, the spokesman gained unique insights into the man he calls his friend, and whom he saw again briefly after his election

When Guillermo Marcó visited Pope Francis last month at the Vatican, he noticed a remarkable change in his old friend.
“In Buenos Aires, when I saw him before the conclave, he looked really tired. He was anticipating his retirement, preparing himself for that, not for taking on a new job,” said Fr Marcó. “Of course, we know that the Holy Spirit works through the conclave, but really I’ve now seen the effects of that because I know him so well,” said the Pope’s former press officer, who had five minutes with his old boss at the Vatican last month.

“I could see this amazing transformation in his face; he was glowing and happy and his eyes had this special light in them. He seemed to have an extra strength and without any doubt this is a change brought about by the force of God.”

...The new pope is accustomed to an austere lifestyle and although he has good friends he does not socialise. “He avoids going to eat dinner with people at their home. He’s always been a person whom I’d describe as monkish in his lifestyle. He’s always been quite a solitary person. He looks after his interior life; he gets up at about 5 a.m. to pray. So, at night, he eats an apple, drinks a cup of tea and goes to bed early.” He preferred to visit the poor of the city, something that became a feature of his tenure as archbishop – he is credited with doubling the number of priests visiting the poor barrios of the city.

...“He says you must go out to the fringes of life and see what is going on. You should not wait for the world to come to you,” said Fr Marcó. “He doesn’t see the poor as people he can help but rather as people from whom he can learn. He believes the poor are closer to God than the rest of us; they have a very personal experience of him.”
